Production rates of oil and gas fields decreases due to various factors, therefore some methods should be used to partly compensate reduction of oil and gas production rate. Artificial lift is one of the method of increasing the production rate and cause to increase the productive life of the well. Electrical submersible pumping (ESP) systems is selected for the design and optimization of one of the oil wells in this field. A thorough investigation of a well of southwest field of NISOC in Iran was used for the electrical submersible pump (ESP). Based on reservoir inputs and completion design, production has been simulated in PROSPER for different scenarios. Design and selection of electrical submersible pump was performed. According to this pump REDA SN3600 13.665 cm (16 – 30.4 m3/hr) with pump efficiency 69 % in condition of 23.12 m3/hr oil production and well head pressure of 1034.2 kPa, have a Best Performance.
