A Postmodern Study of Feminine Language of Women on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy

The present qualitative study was conducted to present a feminine language study of Women on the edge of Time by Marge Piercy under Helene Cixous’s theory of écriture feminine within the framework offeminine language reading. Reading piercy’s women on the edge of time under Helene Cixous requiresfamiliarity with her linguistic vantage point andin particular her use of language to disruptthe social structure by disrupting linguistic structure. Given the male-dominated society created by Piercy wherewomen have no place, women on the edge of the time tries to introduce Mattapoisett as a utopian societybased on equality, cooperation, and justice without any gender differences or racism elements of Cixous’s theory of écriture feminine were detected and highlighted in Luciente an androgynous young woman from the future. The present study gains significance as the findings can shed more light on feminine language study under Helene Cixous’s theory of écriture feminine
