چکیده مقاله:
Motivation is one of the most important factors in individuals’ learning. It is one of the multifaceted phenomena as it is composed of many components. In the area of language learning,motivation has been extensively explored so far, though the construct of motivation has beendefined in different way by different researchers. This study seeks to see the empirical research on the role of motivation by focusing on several research questions:1.what factors have been exploredin relation to motivation in the area of L2 learning. 2. To what extent motivation affects L2 performance. The result of the study shows that: 1.students with enough awareness are highly motivated than students that have no acquaintance and enough background knowledge 2.Students in a learning environment supported by educational objects get motivated better and easier thanthose who are dependent on only papery books and written texts 3.Purpose and instrumental motivation in learning language should be paid attention so that students can get motivated 4.Incomparison with intrinsic type of motivation, extrinsic type of that is stronger in the area oflanguage learning 5.Students who are motivated hold positive attitude. The limitations of the study and directions for future research were also articulated and some strategies to involve students into their own self-motivation raising process of learning are also provided.
