چکیده مقاله:
Recently, core-shell particles with hydrophobic cores and thermosensitive shells have become attractive for the scientists since such systems may have potential applications inindustry[1]. Such systems have been previously synthesized by Makino et al.[2], Okubo et al.[3]. These particles consist ofa polystyrene-core into a shell of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PS-NIPA) which the shell has been affixed on the core through seeded emulsion polymerisation[1]. Nabzar et al.synthesized the cationic amino-containing NIPA-styrene copolymer latexes under emulsifier-free emulsionpolymerization. the most advantageous point of this work is exhibition of narrow size distribution with a polydispersity index close to 1[4]. Dingenouts et al. used a two step emulsionpolymerization for this process. In their study, PS particles containing a small amount of PNIPA were made by aconventional emulsion polymerization. These particles were, then, used as seeds in a second emulsion polymerization in which they were covered by a shell of cross-linked PNIPAchains[5]. In the present study, the Dingenouts method has been used to investigate the effect of emulsion polymerization main parameters on the size of the particles core
