Effect of processing Conditions on Polypropylene Compounds Properties in a Single Screw extruder

Plastics mixed with the mineral fillers are extensively used in various fields. In this article, composites of polypropylene (PP) with talc and wollastonite powders were produced by Buss single screw kneader which generally used as a compounder for mixing of plastics with fillers. Major drawbacks in the use of filled polypropylene are poor impact/stiffness balance and non-uniformity of color in wollastonite filled grade that related to the weak dispersion and distribution of these mineral fillers. The present study verified by experiments how various processing conditions influence the final properties and quality of these composites. It is inferred from the flexural and impact strength that final properties of composites can changed with processing conditions. Optimized processing conditions can be gained base on the improvement of impact/stiffness balance and visual character
