Microstructure and morphology of (polypropylene/poly butadiene/clay)nanocomposite

The blends of polypropylene/polybutadiene (80/20 w/w) and their nanocomposites with different amounts of organoclay nanoparticle were prepared via a melt mixing method. Effects of organoclay on the structure and morphology of the prepared samples were investigated by using equipment including microscopy method (SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). The obtained results of XRD analysis showed intercalation structure for all nanocomposite samples. To investigate the effect of OC on the shape and size of the dispersed phase in the matrix, the SEM images of the samples were prepared. The SEM images showed that the presence of organonclay caused a reduction in the average domain sizes of the dispersed polybutadiene rubber phase. It is expected that this results in theimprovement of blend properties
