A comprehensive one- dimensional homogeneous and heterogeneous reactor models have been studied to simulate the performance of fixed- bed Fischer- Tropsch reactor for hydrocarbon production. The performance of the reactor was investigated using two different models: (a) a simple homogeneous model,
and (b) a heterogeneous model. The proposed models are tested against the measured data from different scale demonstration processes and satisfactory agreements between two models predictions and experimental results are obtained. The validities of these models are also shown to be satisfactory for the investigation of the effects of cooling temperature, reactor pressure and gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) on the performance of reactor. Simulation results show that the selection of lower cooling temperature and inlet gas hourly space velocity and also increase of reactor pressure has a important effect on the higher reactor operations that can increase synthesis gas conversion.
