Expressive Material in Mozart’s Introduction to the Dissonance Quartet

It’s certainly true that using the dissonant intervals for developing expressive material in the classical music of last decades of 18th century is an interesting topic in researching the historic roots of attitudes to expression in ontemporary music. Mozart’s introduction to the Dissonance Quartet or string quartetno. 19 in C major (K. 465), that is marked Adagio is a good example of such using dissonant intervals.In this article, displaying a harmony analysis of the Adagio according to the idea of the dissonance intervals added to a triad will be considered, also a formal analysis based on motives or thematic elements of the piece will be shown.
