Impression and relaxation creep behavior of porous Al/SiC nanocomposite

چکیده مقاله:
In the present study, Al-4.6wt.%SiC composites were produced by mechanical alloying. The powders were gradually compacted to the pressure of 620 MPa as well. Moreover, the post-compact samples were sintered under argon atmosphere at 873 K. Besides, a connection with the creep results was obtained from impression tests. Additionally, compression techniques were investigated at a high temperature i.e. 723 K. The impression stress of 97 MPa in addition to the compression stress of 32.5 MPa were selected. According to the results, the compression rate is constant and the impression rate is higher than compression rate. Also the impression rate is variable in different samples. Also, according to the relaxation results, the relaxation rate is decreased by time due to the work hardening mechanism. The variations in the steady state relaxation rate were sensible because of the different nano-SiC distribution and the porosities but the relaxation rate is constant in indenter depth of 0.5 and 0.8 mm. The results show although the steady state of mechanical alloying has been happened but the localized test has been affected by the porosity more than nano SiC particles. The results have been confirmed by finite element analysis
