چکیده مقاله:

Taxonomy is logical organization of information categories which serve as tool for informationconceptualization, organization and structuring in diverse fields whereas corporate Taxonomy provides mainly a way of representing the information available within an enterprise. The ability of taxonomies to retrieve digital information with high precision and recall is unanimously accepted and reveals that these are now being highly advocated in digital environment for expeditious and compounded growth of information on the web and also failure of Search Engines and other tools to retrieve the information and data etc. The present study is a brief description of a project by the authors that demonstrates a taxonomy of tourism sector in J&K (India) , sketching its building mechanism and presenting an outline in the form of nodes in different hierarchal levels made out of the facets. It further endeavors to identify and categorize a comprehensive range of tourist products with a view to provide their high level map for seamless browsing of the products to increase semantics of resources through contextualization. These categories are designated as navigational labels that link users to the content. Many sources ranging from promotional literature to statistical digests were used useful to identify the links and categories. An attempt has also been made to outline broad parameters for their 467illiams467d to test sample nodes for the measurement of its retrieval effectiveness which reveal a high usefulness compared to other discovery tools in web environment.
