Algorithm of required Data and Information for Integrated Coastal Area Maanagement in Iran

In general Inteegrated Coastal Area Management can be defined as a continuous and dynamic process, by which decisions are made for the sustainable use. First, the process is designed to overcome the fragmentation inherent in both the sectiral management appoach and the splits in jurisdiction among levels of government at the land-water interface. This is dine by ensuring that the decisions of all coastal sectors (e.g., Ports and Shipping sectors, municipalities of coastal cities, fisheriessectors, oil and gas production sectors, water quality, and military services along the coast, atc) and all other levels of government are harmonized and consistent with tje coastal policies of the developing plan of the country. Integrated Coastal Area Management is a process thet recognizes the distinctive character of the coastal area and the importamce of its conservative for current and future generations. The goals of Integrated Coastal Area Managment are to achieve susainable development of coastal and marine areas, to reduce vulnerability of coastal areas and their inhabitants to natural hazards, and to maintain essential ecological processes, Life supports system, and biological diversity in coastal and marine areas.
