APPLICATION OF MODIFIED SILICA COATED MAGNETITE NANOPARTICLES TO DETERMINATION OF NITRITE

A new and efficient microextraction procedure was optimized for thedetermination of nitrite by UV/vis spectroscopy. In this method, Nitrite reacts withbarbituric acid to give the nitroso derivative, violuric acid. At analytical wavelength of310 nm, Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range 1.2 to 1.9 × 103 μg/L ofnitrite. The detection limit of the nitrite was found to be 0.4 μg/L. The proposed methodis optimized for pH, amount of adsorbent and tolerance amount of other ions. Thismethod has been successfully applied to the determination of trace amounts of nitrite inwater samples
