چکیده مقاله:

Learner language indicates significant systematicity and also a comprehensive variability. In this paper it is attempted to find the relationship between using some specific exchanges of speech among people in Kermen,Iran and the way that Kermanian accent effects the social identity of them i.e. their power to persuade others or their politeness in different social relations and conversations. The participants were 24 adult scholars who were studying English teaching in the higher education institute in Kerman,Iran. Some exchanges of everyday conversation among Kermanian people are analysed in the paper. In most cases the speech acts in the utterances embody the willingness of most Kermanian children to use standard accent rather than the Kermanian one. In fact, learners show a preference for the use of one form among others. One of the reasons is that children believe they can persuade others when they do not have an accent(here Kermanian accent) for example when they are in need of something and also the other reason is based on the fact that by being more alike the standard accent their human desire for approval will be more fulfilled and in this way they will be more noticed. While people are talking in different styles of association it seems that interactions among Kermanian students tend to be less confident in stating their speeches to have an impression on the hearer rather than Tehranian students with standard accent. The reasons will be the ways they shape their exchanges of their speech, their pronounciation and intonation. In the study of interlanguage pragmatics many learners tend to adhere to their L1 pragmatic norms when speaking in an L2. The result showed the differences between the way in which L2 learners and native speakers perform the same illuctionary acts and the importance of adhering to one specific accent(here the American accent and not the British one) in the process of teaching English is discussed.
