چکیده مقاله:

The roll motion of planing craft in regular wave is the subject of this study. In this paper, a mathematical model of rolling motion for planing craft in waves is developed. The modeling is based on the Zarnick method in which forces acting on a planing craft is summation of the forces on sections of the craft. It is assumed the wave forces of rolling motion composed of radiation forces, Froude-Krylov forces and water entry forces. The three set of forces are formulated for the planing craft. The roll motion is developed based Newton’s second law. A computer code has been developed. For a model size of planing craft, the code has been used for calculation of roll motion in different headings angles. Although, there is no published results for comparison and verification but, the result of this calculation is quite promising. The Authors are working on the method and expect further development in near future.
