Sustainable construction project management: Objectives and obstacles

Research shows sustainable construction plays a significant role in reducing material and also energy consumption. According to a research in 2004 green buildings use 303 less energy during operation phase and also reduction on environmental impact is possible by benefiting from green construction processes. Therefore studying on the methods to green construction is vital and it is needed to find solutions to replace sustainable construction with traditional.Sustainable construction has some objectives while obstacles make it hard to encourage clients to construct green. The aim of this study is to improve project management tools and techniques in order to remove obstacles of green construction projects. This will result in the willingness of project owners to prefer sustainable instead of traditional construction. In addition the objectives are as follows:1- To understand sustainability and its importance in construction2- To identify objectives and obstacles of sustainable construction3- To suggest solutions to mitigate obstacles of sustainable construction
