چکیده مقاله:
Study the plunge stage, provides a more complete understanding of the process and can alsocan be used to study the friction stir spot welding. In this study plunge stage has been studiedby experimental methods. The results of this study are used as initial conditions forTheoretical analysis of welding process. In this study plunge stage has been studied byexperimental methods. The temperature distribution around the tool, and microstructureevaluations of the workpiece were investigated by using the square pin shape tool.Experiments were performed on aluminium 7050 plates with coincident measurement oftemperature at four points around the tool on the workpiece. Temperature distribution aroundthe tool was obviously asymmetric and the highest temperature was at the advancing side.Microstructural studies showed that four regions with different microstrucrurs are formedaround the tool during the process. These areas based on differences in grain size andelongations were separated. Grains near the tool are elongated in a particular direction thatshow the material flow direction.
