Objective: The artistic and applied aspects of Iranian handicrafts attract the most attentions. Involvement in handicrafts highly affects enhancingself-esteem and self-efficacy of individuals. The process of work and the artworks produced strengthens a positive outlook and perception of one’s self in the person involved. This study investigates the effect of weaving therapy on reducing depression and enhancing self-efficacy in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Method: This research is a case study of two patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis who participated in ten 30-minute sessions of weaving therapy.completed the Sherer’s Self-efficacy Scale and Beck Depression Inventory at pre- and posttestand also Semi-structured interviews were used in two times. Results: The findings showed that weaving therapy considerably improves the feelings of self-efficacy in these patients. The success of the patients in completing different stages of weaving increased the sense of self-value of the patients. The produced artworks boosted their sense of competence and self-efficacy and positively influenced their moods. Feelings of sadness, discontent and suicidal thoughts reduced in both patients. Restlessness decreased in both cases and decision-making power enhanced in both. Conclusion: is worthy of attention as an original method which is capable of opening new pathways to the outlook of MS patients.
