An Intelligent Approach for Clustering in Underwater Sensor Networks

Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) is a kind of wireless networks which has a number of advantages such as underwater exploration, underwater information acquisition and monitoring and low cost implementation. As the acoustic transmission channels is harsh and energy of sensor nodes are constrained, the lifetime of UWSN is restricted and we need mechanisms to reduce the energy consumption and prolong the network lifetime. Clustering is an effective mechanism to reach these objectives. In this paper we propose an intelligent clustering algorithm which uses learning automata to improve the behavior of the clustering algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm
