Preparation of novel lightweight aggregate concrete with combination of Pumice, Perlite and Diatomite and their mechanical behavior analysis

The demand for lightweight concrete is increasing because of economical and practical consideration. The lightweight aggregate has been the subject of intense research in recent years. Decreasing dead load of structure leads to decrease earthquake forces on buildings. Even with highest attention to lightweight aggregate in researches but their combination, their effects on each other in combination and their mechanical behavior have not been investigated enough yet. The main object of these studies to provide more data on the effects of Pumice, Perlite and Diatomite on each other and compressive strength of concrete whit having Silica as coarse aggregate. Test results showed Pumice has more effect on increasing compressive strength and Diatomite with Perlite showed better ability to decrease density leading to lighter concretes. Superplasticizer also added to mix design to decrease the water needed in mixtures.
