Synthesis and characterization of silicone copolymeric surfactants based on acrylate ester

A novel series of water-soluble polypropylene glycol (PPG) silicone polyester surfactants has been prepared by the polymerization of PPG, maleic anhydride,hydroxybutoxy dimethylsiloxy butyl acrylate (HBDMSBA) and fumaric acid. The unique structural features of these surfactants have been confirmed byFourier transformer infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Also, the influences of the PPG segment lengths of PPG- /silicone polyesters on the surface tension wereinvestigated. The experimental results indicated that the solution that contained the PPG-/silicone polyestersurfactants exhibit excellent surface activities, wetting power properties
