The Examination of Mythical Creatures Used in Folk Literature: A Case of Sadegh Hedayat's Works

Iranian culture is rich in tales, myths and legends, and there is a mutual interconnection between culture and literature of Iran. One of the contemporary writers whose works are full of traces of legend, myth, superstition, imagination etc. is Sadegh Hedayat. This research attempts toexamine some of his works and using some examples related to mythical creatures used in his works, gives a simple definition of these creatures and familiarizes the reader with how Hedayathas used these creatures in his works. In the end, it was found that Hedayat, affected by myths and fantasy and superstitious creatures along with using them in his works, has been able to place his works among the everlasting works of Persian literature
