Facies and Sedimentary Environment of Tirgan Formation in Estakhri Village, SW Kopet Dagh Basin

Tirgan carbonate Formation which present Lower Cretaceous age has 129m thickness in Estakhri section, lay down Shurijeh Formation continuously and conformably and overlay by Sarcheshmeh Formation. Field and laboratory investigations and studies revealed tree facies belts which contain 10 sub-facies of barrier, lagoon and tidal flat. According to type, size and vertical and horizontal dependency of sub-facies; these sediments seems to be deposited in a shallow carbonate platform, a kind of ramp.
