چکیده مقاله:
In this research, the effect of silicon nano sized powder as a sintering aid is investigated. B4C – based ceramic composites with addition of nano sized silicon powder up to 10 wt.% were prepared by presssureless sintering at different temperatures (2100-2200°C). The structural, relative density and micro-hardness properties of the samples were studied. Microstructural studies were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy, line scan, dot map analysis and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. EDS analysis showed the presence of two kind of boron carbide phases in the composite. Also the reaction between B4C and silicon lead to improved properties and the specimen with 7.5 wt. % nano sized Si had high properties. Properties about this composite were 85.74% relative density and 28.3 GPa micro-hardness.
