Survey of Effect of Cytotoxic of Extract of Eryngium caucasicum on Hela Cancer and Fibroblast Cells

Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by abnormal cell growth. There are more than100 types of cancer which are classified according to the type of cells. Humans from thebeginning of creation have had various usages of plants. They needed them in order tosurvive. One of their usages was treatment of diseases. Zolang Eryngium caucasicum is aherbal plant with unknown potentials. . Zolang is abundant in the forests of north of Iran.Zolang is one of the most important plants which is being used in traditional medicine fortreating anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, tranquilizer, blood pressure, kidney, liver, heart,,Bleeding and diseases related to the circulatory. In this research, we investigated theanticancer effects of Eryngium caucasicum on hela cancer and Normal fibroblast cells. Cellline under investigation was prepared from the cell bank of Iran Pasteur Institute and culturedunder controlled condition. 10000 cell were transfer to a plate of 96 cells during 24 hours.The cells were exposed to different concentrations of the plant including 10, 5 , 2.5, 1.25,625%,312%, 156%, 78% and 38%mg/ml. A series of cells without extract were consideredcontrol group. The amount of cytotoxic was evaluated by MTT assay. The results showed thatethanol extract of Eryngium caucasicum in hela cell increases as the extract concentrationincreases from 0.038 to 10. But the greatest impact of extract was at concentration of 10. Thefibroblast cell line 0.625 to 10 inhibitory effects of high concentrations compared to the otherconcentrations. To assess the effect of the extract on healthy cells, fibroblasts were culturedEryngium caucasicum extract at this time on hela cells at a concentration of 2.5, up to 0.156,inhibited fibroblast cells is higher.
