چکیده مقاله:

Evading apoptosis is one of the major hallmarks of cancer cells. Inhibitors of apoptosis (IAP)proteins are considered as most important gene families involved in apoptosis. BRUCEprotein, a member of IAPs, is able to quench apoptosis and plays role in cell division. Ouraim in this study was to clarify BRUCE protein expression in GC and its clinicopathologicalrelevance. Using immunohistochemistry, fifty-two GC specimens were studied for BRUCEprotein expression and a validated scoring method was applied.BRUCE protein expressionwas detected in 98.07% of tumor tissues. A significant correlation between gender andBRUCE expression (p =0.024), was detected. Indeed, males showed higher level of BRUCEexpression than females patients. Since specific expression of BRUCE protein was revealedin major of GC tissues, BRUCE protein may be a useful therapeutic target for cancer therapy.Furthermore, based on the native role of BRUCE protein in inhibition of apoptosis, using thisprotein in targeted therapy of tumor cells may help to inhibit tumor cells growth and survivalleading to rapid elimination of tumor mass.
