Suggesting the sustainable patterns based on ancient architecture in Iran

In this research, the features of ancient Iranian architecture has been reviewed, and in accordance with sustainable development criteria in architecture, the ancient features with potential adapting with current views have been evaluated through case studies distinguished in especial climate and environmental conditions. Authors strongly believe that the ancient architectures must be investigated not only because the lost traditions provide ways through sustainable development also they can enable proper adapting conditions for perceiving the current solutions and reality of the current problems which are the paramount importance in sustainable issue at the present time. The criteria in ancient architecture in Iran which needs to be revised for adapting to the sustainable development in architecture have been investigated in this research. Finally some patterns have been suggested which can be beneficial in reducing greenhouse gases, avoiding consumerism and other environmental and social sustainable factors.
