A new approach in environmental pollution removal: sulfur dioxide treatment by zero-dimensional modeling of a dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is one of the major environmental pollutants concern in most major cities across the world. It can pose a threat to human health, animal health, and plant life. In this paper, wehave used a Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma reactor to remove pollutant gases. Thebehavior of different species and their reaction rates are studied using a zero-dimensional model based on equations of kinetics inside plasma reactor. The considered model is able to describe the behavior of these species such as charged particles, radicals, excited states. We are using a plasma reactor toremove environmental pollutants such as sulfur dioxide using DBD in the presence of non-thermal plasma and during a reduction mechanism from industrial factory chimneys. Temporal variation of number density of sulfur dioxide along the reactor plasma is reduced by using this method. Simulation results show the usefulness of this method, which is in agreement with experimental findings
