The study of microRNA-221 expression alteration as a tumormarker to early detection of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is the most common cancer of the endocrine system. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common endocrine malignancy. Most studies on miRNA expression in thyroid cancer are in PTC and have consistently shown upregulation of miRNAs 146b, 221, 222, 224, 155, and 181b.In this study we investigate the levels of miR-221 in human’s peripheral blood so as to determine whether it can serve as biomarker for early detection of (PTC).
