چکیده مقاله:

The built environment plays an important role in determining the urban climate. Greenery, urban street canyon form and geometry, and wind direction affect air quality and public health. Poor environmental performance is thought to result from a lack of understanding of basic requirements, specially urban canyon form. Thus, urban heat island, large energy demand and air pollution are the obvious consequences. To reduce air pollution, this paper sets pollution mitigation and distribution goals and puts forward four kinds of direct and indirect solutions for five different categories of urban canyon forms due to pollutant dispersion. Finally, the results from a field survey are presented for Zhandarmery street which is situated in one of the most polluted area in the center of Tehran
