Zero Energy Building - A review of definition and design strategies

The concept of Zero Energy Building (ZEB) has gained wide international attention during last few years and is now seen as the future target for the design of buildings. The most important factorsguided us in formulating the definitions for various type of ZEB are: (1)Net Zero Site Energy, (2)NetZero Source Energy, (3)Net Zero Energy costs, (4)Net Zero Emissions. These are the important factors design in ZEB such as: Low rise building, Climate and Natural ventilation. This paper presents several design strategies to obtain a Zero Energy Building, we must design a building to purposeeconomic energy design and aesthetic. Thus, composition of this factor is very important. This factor are: Envelope, Orientation, Thermal mass, Day lighting, HVAC and control, Reduce the impact of moisture and air infiltration, Design long-lived, Reuse and recycling of building material, PV cell, Earth tube system.
