چکیده مقاله:

This paper was written to analyze and identify discourse markers in two Persian translations of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Discourse markers are some kinds of lexical expressions which showing coherence relations between discourse units. Topic and message markers are two subtypes of discourse markers. Message markers relate messages and topic markers relate topics of discourse units. Fraser (1996-1999) believed that, although discourse markers gathered from different classes of conjunctions, they have the grammatical status of the main class in which they belong to. In this paper the first five chapters of the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” which is written by Roald Dahl in 1964 was considered. The highlighting markers were analyzed to compare the degree of changes, deletions and additions in the translation of message markers. In this case, two translations of this novel, the first one published in 1390 by Shahla Tahmasebi and the second one published by Mahnaz Davoodi in 1385, were considered.
