The goal of seismic design is to provide structures to withstand low and moderate intensity earthquakes without major structural damages, while under severe earthquake sufficient damages are acceptable without collapse of the structure. For adequate earthquake design, the presence of structure that combines stiffness and the ability to dissipate energy without loss of strength is important. Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBF) have the ability to resist lateral load and heavy ground motion especial for steel frames.
