Administrative Discipline as a predictor of organizational health in schools (Case study: girl high schools of District 1 in Tehran)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between organizational health of schools and Administrative discipline. This study was done with a descriptive survey method of the correlational type. 257 teachers in girl high schools in district 1 in Tehran were selected using a random-cluster method. The data collection was performed using organizational health questionnaire of Tartar and Hoy school (1997) and a research-built administrative discipline questionnaire. To analyze the data, Pearson correlation test and multi-variable regression were used. The results showed that with improvement in on-time presence of teachers at work, intimacy of teachers with together at work, mutual respect of teachers to each other at work, honesty of teachers, full-time presence of teachers at school, organizational health is improved in schools. Components of administrative discipline (on-time presence of teachers at work, intimacy of teachers with together at work, mutual respect of teachers to each other at work, honesty of teachers, and full-time presence of teachers at school) are as a predictor of organizational health in schools. These components determine 42% of the changes of the organizational health in schools, and with their improvement, the organizational health is improved. The findings of this study can help policy makers and planners of the education system to improve organizational health and promote the education system. From these findings it can be concluded that with special attention of managers to administrative discipline of employees a better organizational health can be expected in the organization.
