Developing a mathematical model of dust flame by involving heat transfer between gas and particles

چکیده مقاله:

Heat transfer between particles and surrounding gas in high concentrations is an important term in the studies of dust combustion. However, in the previous studies this term has often been neglected. In the present study an analytical model of a quasi one-dimensional non-adiabatic dust flame was developed with an assumption that the particle burning rate in the flame front is controlled by the process of oxygen diffusion. The heat transfer between particles and surrounding gas and the heat loss to wall, assumed to be linearly proportional to the temperature, are added to the energy conservation equation and flame propagation mechanism is considered by radiation, conduction and convection. Finally, the effect of burning time on the laminar flame speed and quenching distance is examined. The findings of the study show that the calculated values of burning velocity and quenching distance are in a good agreement with experimental data.
