چکیده مقاله:
Arsenic is one of the toxic metal that enter to water and soil ecosystems Through natural processes such as weathering of geological formations and human activities. Water pollution by arsenic with natural source have been reported in more than 70 countries. In Iran also in parts of Kurdistan province including Qorveh as the provincial caltivated area have aquifers contaminated of arsenic caused by geological formations. Arsenate is the most abundant form of arsenic which competities with phosphate anion in soil environment. The aim of this study was investigate effect of municipal solid waste compost on amount of arsenic leaching in calcareous soil. In this study 6 soil columns made of polyethylene with 10cm diameter and 80cm heigh were used including 3 columns as controls and 3 columns containing a ratio of %30 compost and %70 soil filled based on soil bulk density. The Columns were under leaching twice each week with 300ml distilled water during 60 days and The drained water were analyzed. The results showed considerablety decrease in the amount of arsenic leaching in compost treated columns Compared to the controls. It also revealeid that the phosphate leaching increase in compost treated columns Compared to the controls
