Improving Design through Logical Thinking and a New Graphic Language

In this paper, I propose a two-part answer to fundamental problems in architectural design. First, a newgraphic language—the Graphic Language TSD (Theory of Spatial Delimitation)—allows control ofpure-form design operations and is available to use with the free graphic software package CA-TSD.Second, an operative semiotic model—the Semiotic Nonagon, derived from the philosophical logic ofCharles S. Peirce—enables control of the innumerable variables of any architectural project. Throughthe semiotic nonagon, the need for a third graphic language—the TSD, after Perspective and theMonge System—is demonstrated.
