The Effect of Soaking time in Methanol Coagulation Bath During Fabrication of Fibroin nano-fibers by Wet Electrospinning

Silk fibroin, derived from Bombyx mori cocoons widely used in biomaterial applications because of itsexcellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, biodegradability, oxygen permeability and good cell attachments. InThe present study the electrospinning of silk fibrion solution has been carried out directly in methanol bath in varioustimes. Therefore, the effect of soaking times on the morphology and diameter of fibroin nano-fibers was investigatedwith Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Choosing methanol as a collection bath during electrospinning processresulted in changing the morphology and diameter of fibers. The increasing in fibers diameter and also tending toaggregation of created nano-fibers were observed by increasing immersion time in methanol bath.
