Synthesis of nanostructural boron nitride coatings on C/C composite by dip-coating

The boron nitride coating was fabricated onto C/C composite by dip-coating process with boric acid and ureaas precursor, followed by nitriding in a nitrogen flow at 650°C. The results show that BN coatings exhibited a pebblelikestructure. The SEM micrographs indicated that the thickness of coating is about 70 nanometers. The concentrationof the dipping solution and the nitridation temperature affected on the thickness and the microstructure of the BN film.The FT-IR results revealed that the BN film has amorphous microstructure and by increasing the nitriding temperaturesome microcrystallinity h-BN phase indicated through the film.
