Comprehensive Study on Optimal Placement of Recloser

Reclosers are used in distribution network for clearing temporary fault, insulating faults, and enhancing power system reliability. In this paper, a comprehensive analyze on optimum placement of recloser in distribution network is done. A composite reliability index is defined as the objective function in the optimization procedure. The effect of non-radial network is also shown in the paper. Simulation work is carried out with MATLAB software based on a 69-segment distribution feeder to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
