Voltage Sag Reduction and Harmonic Elimination in Distribution System Using D-STATCOM

This paper discusses about the power quality problemssuch as harmonic distortion and voltage sag in the distributionsystems. A distribution static compensator (D-STATCOM) is usedto improve the power quality. With a proper control like indirectcurrent control scheme, this compensator is capable of eliminatingharmonic distortion and mitigating voltage sag. In this study twotest systems are used and every system operates in two modes, withand without DSTATCOM. The performance of proposed controlscheme is validated through simulation carried out usingMATLAB/SIMULINK.
