Comparison Between Body Image and Life Satisfaction, in patients Involved with Sex Identity Disorder before and after Sex change Surgery

More and more frequently, the registration of life satisfaction and body image are being used to evaluate different medical treatments but So far, there have been only a few such surveys on the responses of transsexuals (TS) before and after surgery. Therefore, this study aims to comparing life satisfaction and body image of transsexuals before and after gender transformation operations. This is a quasi-experimental study that assessed 18 individuals with TS by using the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Fisher Body Image and socio-demographic items. In this TS study, we found significant increases in life satisfaction after gender transformation operations (P=.0..8). Furthermore, we found significant increases in body image after sex reassignment surgery (P=.0..8).This study indicates a meaningful discrepancy between life satisfaction and body image before and after gender transformation operations. These findings results suggest surgery, for people who are absolutely diagnosed their transsexuality
