چکیده مقاله:

Persian architecture maintained its continuity despite frequent retardation or diversions by internal conflicts or foreign intrusion, and attacks and invasion by different enemies, such as powerfulforeign rulers – Seljuk Turk, Mongols (Illkhanid) and Timurid. The best example of this characteristic of Persian architecture can be seen in the mosques of Persia .At the beginning arrival of Islam in Persia, Persian mosques have been designed and built based on the various architectural elements. Some of them were inserted from Arabic architecture, and some of themwere transferred and applied from pre –Islam Persian architecture. After that in later IslamicPersian period, many of Persian architectural elements were innovated by Persian master builders.This article attempts to present the review of Persian architectural elements, were inserted and developed in the mosques of Persian Empire from the early period until end of Safavid period. Studying for each of these elements including; Definition, origin, significance, morphology, typology, and the history for each element will be separately described.
