چکیده مقاله:

Tim Wood (2001) observed that Modernization as a process also affects the way a society thinks, its attitudes, beliefs, food, dress habits, and cultural patterns at the level of individuals, and as the individuals can be seen as units of the society. In this study, an attempt has been made to understand the consequences of modernization in the traditional housing pattern as reflected in the changes in Kitchen, yard, and tandoor. For the present study, qualitative and quantitative methods have been used in combination for data collection. Significant changes observed that- in the past, Tandoor was made up of clay. It was made by men. Now-a-days the tandoor is made up of metal. In the past, time the fuel in tandoor was firewood which was gathered by women. The modern tandoor uses fuel that is manufactured by specialised agencies. In the past, when the tandoor was in the yard, while baking, the housewives in the neighbourhood had a close and strong interaction with each other. They co-operated with each other. With the advancement of technology innovations, this has changed. As the changes in tandoor have taken place, there are corresponding changes in the dress pattern of women .
