A Survey of Volpone: A Play by Ben Jonson

Volpone, or the Fox, is a blank verse satirical play in five acts, each of them divided intoseveral scenes. Its subject is a struggle of wit applied to chicanery among its dramatispersonae, from the villainous Fox himself, his rascally servant Mosca, Voltore, Corbaccioand Corvino to Sir Politic Would-be and the rest. The play bears a denial of some vicious trialof human beings which the most important one is greed. The whole play tries to portray asociety governed by human filths of its members. It concludes that in such a society thetermination is the victory of justice and punishment of evil.
