چکیده مقاله:

This study investigates what features of naturalness of a conversation in an EFLtextbook are. After a thorough review of related literature, a model of naturalness wasadopted on the basis of the features of spoken language. There are six main features ofspoken language in the model: contextualizability, communicativeness, appropriateness,unfolding, text potential, and features of authentic speech. This study highlights theimportance of including natural language in conversations of EFL textbooks and makessome pedagogical suggestions about how this can be done.
