چکیده مقاله:
the present paper simulates one sliding isolator with variable curvature SIVC NAMELY,conical firction pendulum isolator CFPI to compare its frequeny response with a conventional friction pendulum system FPS find the optimum ranges of isolation period and coefficient of friction and using the optimum values found study its effectiveness in different PGA scales of near fault earthquakes velocity dependent coefficient of friction and modified viscoplasticity model have been used to simulate the non -linear friction force the results indicate excellent performance of CFPI in mitigating resonance under harmonic loading when excitation and isolation frequencies are close to each other moreover when subjected to pga scaled near fault earthquakes identical performacne of CFPIand fps is observed in PGA scales up to 0.4 g under higher pga scales CFPI is not successful in mitigating the base displacement while it does a good job in controlling of transmitted acceleration to the super -structure.
