Modeling of Hydrodynamics of Packed Columns in Wet and Dry Condition

Previous models and correlations for predicting hydrodynamics of countercurrent packed columns are frequently empirical and only valid in the range of their experimental conditions, so developing a generalized model to predict the pressure drop in wetted counter current packed columns seems to be a vital work.In this paper two generalized models are developed and introduced for prediction of pressure drop and liquid hold up in packed columns. Some different random packing and a vast range of fluids are considered in the present study. Predictions of pressure drop and liquid hold-up from the model equations are shown to be consistent with the experimental data
