Investigating the Relationship between the Quality of Work Life and the Emergence of Organizational Citizenship Behavior among Primary School Teachers in Andimeshk

The present study aims to investigate the relationship between work life quality and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The statistical population included all the primary schools teachers of Andimeshk city which were calculated as 525 teachers. Using Cochran's sampling formula, 223 teachers were determined randomly as the sample size. For data collection two questionnaires were used: Walton's quality of work life (1973) and organizational citizenship behavior questionnaire by Podsakoff et al. (1990). The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression. The findings show that there is a positive meaningful relationship between the quality of work life and organizational citizenship behavior. Moreover, it was found that all the dimensions of the quality of work life (fair and sufficient payment, safe and healthy work place, the opportunity of growth and constant security, rule of law in the organization, social dependence of work life, the general atmosphere of life, integrity and coherence in the organization and development of human capacities) have a positive relationship with organizational citizenship behavior; except the dimension of rule of law in the organization, this relationship was statistically significant in other dimensions. Also, the findings of stepwise regression showed that among the dimensions of quality of work life, five dimensions including social dependence of work life, work life general atmosphere, fair and sufficient payment, rule of law in the school, and development of human capacities can predict organizational citizenship behavior by 0.229, 0.184, 0.375, 0.094, and 0.191, respectively.
