Teaching listening in the sight of Applied Linguistics

The importance of strategic approach to L2 listening instruction has been accentuated in the literature a lot because these strategies will enhance the comprehension of the target language. Applied Linguistics considers some important factors in listening processes such as bottom-up processing and top-down processing. Two processes are investigated during listening. This study focuses on the mental processes of comprehension, the strategies used in different phases of comprehension, the relationship between linguistic processing and listener's background knowledge. So, according to investigation of the full range of listening tasks, the different elements required for successful listening by a combination of the comprehension models are available
