Seka – Industrial Park

One of the modern history’s fundamental rule is: Cities historical areas and their centers are the same places and an intervention to these areas such as rehabilitating areas is also bringing an intervention to social class. Settlers are forced to moving out from their neighborhoods because of the wave of this intervention and this called gentrification.Seka Park Project designed carefully to minimize gentrification and designed as a connection focal point of the city. Project designed to spot civic needs of urban life for example recreational areas, museums, cultural centers, concerts halls, youth centers, cafe-restaurants which are proposed as respectfully of civic needs.Seka Projects Paper Factory is Turkey’s first paper factory in this sector and proposal aimed to highlight its present German Architectural beauty of the building to Kocaeli civics. Especially, creating cultural areas and reclaiming seafront was the main idea of the design.This manifesto aims to present Turkey’s first pilot project of transformation from industry to civic purposes. Project itself became the leader and respectful example of industrial-civic transformation for Turkish society and government.
